Yes, there is yet another redesign at JustinTadlock.com. I wanted something a little Christmasy though, so this is my attempt at a Christmas-based theme.
I’ve never been good at Christmas themes at all, but I figured I’d give it one more shot. My Santa in the header image could probably use a little more touching up, but I’m tired of messing with it.
I put this together in less than half an hour (minus the header image) because I just modified a preexisting theme.
Maybe when the new year rolls around, I’ll have enough time to do a true redesign of the site.
Get the theme my design is based on
This is actually a slight modification to my latest theme at Theme Hybrid, Leviathan.
It is another GPL-licensed theme that you can download for free. It is also a child theme of my Hybrid theme framework, which is probably the most feature-rich WordPress theme you can find.
It’s definitely worth a look if you’re looking for a new theme that can be both professional and personal.
I like the Christmas Look. Nice with out Reds and Greens like most Christmas Themes. Really like how functional Hybrid is. I’m getting ready to run it on all my sites.
Using reds and greens has been my biggest problem in the past. If done right, they can look nice, but many times, it just comes out wrong.
Hybrid is definitely a multi-purpose theme though.
You say the header graphic needs a bit of re-touching, I think it looks just great. Good job overall on your Christmas look.
Thanks. I’m fine with the graphic as is; I was just being picky about a couple of things.
Got to admit, d santa looks more like an elf. Too “non jolly” looking. Great work.
Yeah, Santa not being jolly enough is one of the things I was thinking about touching up.
This is beautiful! I’m curious: what font did you use in the header?
I used a font called St. Nicholas. I think I came across it on Deviant Art, but I can’t be completely sure.
I’ve noticed you aren’t using threaded comments, even though hybrid supports it.
Any reason?
I don’t much like threaded comments.
I like the header. It gives off that impression of the season, without heavy use of red and green. Very nice.
I’m really enjoying the header too.
I like how you styled the header at your blog, Justin.
Am now using Leviathan on my blog with a few modifications of my own: it’d be an honor if you have time to take a look and give me a critique and some suggestions.
good job …
now I see the beauty of hybrid
i love the look you have here excellent work once again Justin..
hey where is that pink beige theme gone. I searched every nook and corner of your site, it is no where to be seen. It was so beautiful, please make it avaliable. hehe.
I like it so much.
Isaiah — Thanks. I’m glad to see you’re using Hybrid/Leviathan.
dinu — If this shows you the beauty of Hybrid, you haven’t seen anything yet. Over the course of the next few months, you’ll see lots of unique child themes for it.
Ian — Thanks. Now, I just need to change it because it’s past Christmas.
beautymakeupdivas.com — That was a personal theme for this website, which I probably won’t make available to the public.
I uploaded Leviathan and I didnot see any image in theme page of wordpress where we activate the theme. It said the theme file is missing.
have you forgotten to include the theme file, I saw there is no php file in it.
