Acrylic Painting #4: Snow Train

Train traveling down the tracks in the snow. Trees surround it in the foreground and background. Snowy mountains are in the distance, and the sky is a bright orange.

I wanted to step away from the abstract a bit with this work over the weekend and shoot for something more realistic. Needless to say, I have a lot to learn.

I fought with this painting for around six hours. Fortunately, I had plenty of time to waste as it rained all day. It ended up being a class on everything not to do when painting. So many aspects never turned out as I had planned in my head, but it somehow came together in the end.

This is going to my dad and stepmom for Christmas — trying to keep things cheap for the holidays. My stepmom has already commissioned me for a larger painting at some point in the future. Well, she said she would supply the canvas anyway. Maybe I can get her to upgrade my paints too.
