Gearing up for football season, I recently hooked up my outdoor antenna in the new home. The ViewTV antenna I bought in 2018 is still going strong. I’ve gone through the past year without access to network TV, but I have also been settling into a new home for most of that time.
My dad brought over his big drill and a specific bit for drilling through brick. We ran the cable through an old landline telephone outlet, I put on a new coaxial cable plate, and we were in business.
I am now receiving 65 channels, which seems kind of insane. As a kid, we always had a saying: “We’re picking up 8, 12, 20, and sometimes 32.” Those are the local channels for CBS, NBC, Fox, and ABC. Of course, we got channel 2 (PBS) too. Nowadays, folks have so much variety for free. I typically do not watch much outside of the Big Five (now including The CW), despite viewing episodes of Everybody Hates Chris on Bounce at this very moment.
Last fall, I temporarily moved into a friend’s house for a few months, at least until I found a new house and made, what I hope is, a permanent move to my forever home in December. It was the first network TV season that I missed since 2018. Recently, I have been busily catching up with some of the shows that I missed out on. However, with access to antenna TV once again, I am ready to get back on schedule.
This schedule should change as new season premieres are announced later in the fall and into the winter. I will undoubtedly drop some series along the way.
The times below are in Central time. I’ve listed the network in parentheses and the season premiere date for each. The shows with an asterisk are new.
