About a Girl

When Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville premiered, I wasn’t impressed. The show was flat, the jokes didn’t seem to land, and the plot was mediocre. At best, I figured Fox (who is notorious for pulling the plug on good sci-fi) might give this new series a half-season run before shutting down … Continue reading →

Blackberry wine: Getting started

Over the past few years, I’ve been studying and attempting to implement various permaculture designs into the home and garden. One of the ideas behind permaculture is to stop fighting nature so much and work with it. Bill Mollison once said, “You don’t have a slug problem; you have a … Continue reading →

Early 2017 homestead

As this year’s spring season gets underway, I’ve already gotten the garden fever. That’s just a given for me after waiting and planning all winter. Here’s a look at some of the homestead so far this year. I’ve got a few other things planted that I hope to show in … Continue reading →

Happy 13th, Smeagle!

While everyone was celebrating Thanksgiving this past week, my oldest cat, Smeagle, was celebrating his 13th birthday. He wasn’t particularly fond of the camera. The above shots were the best I could get him to pose for in the last few days. Yes, Smeagle is named after the Lord of … Continue reading →

After grocery shopping today, some guy and his lady waited for me to put my groceries in my car and pull out just so they could get my space. I know that spot next to where you put your buggy is prime real estate in the Wal-Mart parking lot, but when there’s three parking spaces open next to me, I’m going to take my time and make sure you have a good, long wait while praying that some other ass swoops in and takes it at the last moment.

Dug final row of potatoes. Picked 1/2 bucket of snap beans. Prepped the back third of the garden for a new planting. Planted 2.5 lbs of peanuts. Wrote some awesome code for Hybrid Core version 3.0. Now putting the finishing touches on a new WP tutorial.

A new chapter in my life

Updated: Yes, this was an April Fool's prank! It has to be at least slightly believable to fool you, right? Also, I wanted to make sure Jeff at WP Tavern had a really hard time figuring out what was real and fake news today. :) I’ve been taking steps over … Continue reading →

Why I haven't blogged much this year

“When are you going to write some new WordPress tutorials?” people ask. I’ve been getting emails off and on this year about why I haven’t blogged as much. Generally, when I haven’t blogged in a while, it’s because I get a bit burnt out or am working too much on … Continue reading →

Why God made grandmas

Because of a Twitter conversation this morning, I had a hankering for some good ol’ Southern biscuits. And, like everyone knows, no one does it better than Granny (a common name for Southern grandmas). I told Granny if she’d make some, I’d eat breakfast with her. What made this even … Continue reading →
