Customizer typography project

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been giving some thought about building a typography control class for the WordPress customizer. I started to write a tutorial on the process, but such a tutorial would probably be in the neighborhood of 4,000 words. With something so highly technical, I didn’t think … Continue reading →

After grocery shopping today, some guy and his lady waited for me to put my groceries in my car and pull out just so they could get my space. I know that spot next to where you put your buggy is prime real estate in the Wal-Mart parking lot, but when there’s three parking spaces open next to me, I’m going to take my time and make sure you have a good, long wait while praying that some other ass swoops in and takes it at the last moment.

JavaScript templating in the WordPress customizer

In my previous tutorial on building a radio image control in the WordPress customizer, instead of using PHP to output data for the control output, I used JS. Specifically, this used Underscore’s templating engine that’s packaged with WordPress. While I’m not well-versed in JavaScript, it’s something that will increasingly become … Continue reading →

The WordPress.org theme review team (TRT) has been in the WP news a lot lately, right? Despite various tall tales, urban legends, personal attacks, and flavorful language being bandied about, we’re all a group of regular ol’, standard-built humans trying to make sure WordPress users have really awesome stuff. Some … Continue reading →

The Art of Writing Sensationalist Headlines. I think it’d make for a cool e-book title. I wonder how much I could sell it for.

Multiple checkbox customizer control

This post is part of my ongoing series of helping theme authors out with building customizer fields that they need help with. This request comes from Nilambar Sharma. The specific request was, “Have you developed customizer control for multi checkbox. Say five choices are given and user can select multiple … Continue reading →

My 10th WordPress.org-aversary

Well, today has come and gone by just like any other for the most part. However, I’ve been quietly contemplating the past 10 years of being involved in the WordPress community. It’s been a long, wacky, and exhilarating ride, one that I wouldn’t change for anything in the world. Here’s … Continue reading →
